History to the present day

Homerton College has an unusual and interesting history which commenced with a London society in 1730 eventually aquiring our current site the Cavendish College, Cambridge in 1894.  It became a ladies college due to the University not approving of a mixed college at that time and did not start taking men again until 1976.

It was not until 2010 that Homerton was finally granted full collegiate status as a self-governing college of the University of Cambridge.

We are the largest college in Cambridge and also very proud that we are known as the friendliest College.

We hope you enjoy your stay and have the opportunity to walk around our beautifully landscaped grounds.

Great College with friendly staff
Mr Hugh M

Lovely quiet setting
Dr Neil P

room was basic but comfortable and warm. Appreciated the toiletries!!
Ms Louise C

Stayed at Homerton during the winter off season. Different to summer, almost nobody in the college, no conferences, either. Breakfast in the buttery instead of in the Great Hall. But everybody was very nice, the room functional, and the experience pleasant, like always. And remember, this is a B&B service only. Don't expect a hairblower, ironing board, or TV. There is excellent internet connection instead. After all it is a college, not a hotel.
Prof Jochen T

It was a great experience with you. I really appreciate everything and enjoyed a lot staying there. thanks
Mr MANOJ C

Good experience. Will repeat in future
Mrs sudeshna C

Thank you so much.
Mr ATEF B

I loved staying here. Quiet, but not far from the city centre.
Mrs sheila D

ABC quarter was very convenient for breakfast and our rooms had superb views over a courtyard and the great hall. Gardens , lawns and planting was delightful and peaceful during the evenings. Porter's lodge staff very helpful and pleasant.
Mrs Gail H

This was the first time I had used your service and found it to be very good. My only comment would be that a 07:30am start for breakfast is a little late 07:00am would be preferable. Thank you
Mr Robert S
