History to the present day

Westminster College buildings were built in 1899 by the Presbyterian Church of England, to replace their existing one in London. The move to Cambridge was largely at the urging of two remarkable twin sisters, Margaret and Agnes Smith, whose portraits now hang in the main dining hall. The college is a Grade II listed building. Almost all the original work survives, with modern facilities sympathetically introduced.

The College is today a Theological College affiliated with Cambridge University with some 50 students; some in training for ministry in the Church.

Guests staying in the cottages can book breakfast in the main college dining hall at a cost of £9.00 per person for a full English or continental buffet breakfast. Please enquire on arrival.

What a fabulous place! The young lady who checked us in on reception went over and above to offer tips and advice for our stay, marking places on the map and generally being super helpful. The cottage is delightful, a haven of peace but yet a stone's throw from the city centre - perfect!
Mr christopher G

We had a very peaceful stay. Good location, nicely furnished and equipped. Staff very helpful and friendly. Thank you.
Mrs D V R

Dr Albert L

Mr Keith D

The cottage was clean and well equipped, easy to access and conveniently located.
Mrs Anne C

I've marked breakfast as good because I am sure it was, but we had our own breakfast in the cottage. An excellent find!
Mr John D

It was lovely :-) I read the History of Westminster College booklet which was in the cottage, and was very interested n the description of the library and upper rooms. I went to have a look at the these rooms but was told that visitors are not allowed, which is understandable, but I was a bit disappointed. But this is a minor issue as the accommodation as lovely and very well situated - I will stay here again! :-) NB I didn't have breakfast so cannot comment on that.
Dr Helen G

I did not take breakfast so cannot rate it. Very much enjoyed our stay and will stay again and recommend it to others. There was everything to make the stay easy and cosy at our fingertips. A row of coat hooks near front door would be very useful and a mirror near a socket so it's easy to use the hairdryer.
Mrs Jackie K

I didn't partake of the breakfast, so can't comment. Other than that, a great facility, thank you.
Dr Marie K
