Set in 42 acres of open parkland in the north west corner of the city, Churchill College's location is a ten minute walk (or a short bus ride) from the historic city centre. Parking, which is at a premium in this city, is free and plentiful at our college.
Accommodation is offered in contemporary courtyards that surround the main building and the heart of the college campus.
Whilst not old like some other colleges, the light, generously proportioned rooms fulfill the needs of the modern traveller, including a spacious desk and free broadband internet access (WiFi in public areas and ethernet point in bedrooms) with a hospitality tray and toiletries.
History to the present day
Churchill College is the National and Commonwealth Memorial to Sir Winston Churchill. Founded in 1958, Churchill College was one of the first of the 'modern era' of Cambridge Colleges. It is also the only Cambridge College specifically established to pursue excellence in the teaching and research of science, engineering and technology. Nobel Prize winners Francis Crick, discoverer of the structure of DNA, and Anthony Hewish, the discoverer of the pulsar, were amongst its founding Fellows.
Sir Nikolaus Pevsner, the distinguished architectural historian, described the buildings of Churchill College as an 'outstanding conception' and the 'best of the new'. The buildings were designed by the architect Richard Sheppard, and were some of the first of the 1960's modernist tradition to be listed. The architecture pays reference to the traditional vernacular of inter-linked courtyards, but the style is decidedly contemporary.
Churchill College is also home to the Churchill Archive Centre which houses the papers of both Winston Churchill and Margaret Thatcher as well as some 700 other leading political figures. Visits to the archive can be arranged.
Food and Drinks
Full English and continental breakfasts are available and are served either in the college Buttery or the main Dining Hall.
Guests are welcome to use either the dining hall or the buttery on a cash basis subject to opening hours and occasional private bookings.
Churchill boasts the largest dining hall in Cambridge. Lunch and dinner and a brunch on Saturdays are served here and can be enjoyed by all visitors to the college.
Adjoining the main concourse, the Buttery is open throughout the day for snacks and drinks, (subject to some restricted opening times). This area provides free WiFi access to all guests. It provides the perfect space for catching-up with emails whilst relaxing with a refreshing drink, and a piano is available for those with a musical bent.
Grounds and gardens
Churchill has extensive grounds and gardens on site.
Our grounds are home to an extensive collection of contemporary sculptures from a variety of well-known artists. They provide the perfect backdrop for an hour or two relaxing in the sun with a cool drink and a good book.
Additional facilities for residents include an on-site laundry, a TV room, an all day bar and café (subject to some restricted opening times) and sports facilities including squash and tennis courts and a multi-gym. Sports equipment, irons and hair dryers can all be borrowed from the Porters' Lodge.
There is plentiful free parking on site.
Free Broadband access.

We guarantee that all our feedback is genuine and can only be submitted by people who have booked through our websites.
Mrs Ann Kronbergs, August 2014: This was our fourth booking with Uni.rooms. Each time the service and quality of experience have bee really excellent value and a memorable experience all round.
Dr Rachel Potter, August 2014: Really enjoyed our stay, a great alternative to staying in a characterless hotel somewhere in Cambridge. I would choose to say in one of the University rooms again, and the grounds especially were so beautiful.
Mr Dmitry Matveev, August 2014: Everything was fine. Liked the Churchill College very much
Mr Boris Shingarov, August 2014: Great job guys! I will definitely stay at Churchill again next time I am in Cambridge!
Mrs Margie Mitchelmore, August 2014: We very much enjoyed our stay at Churchill College. Everyone was very friendly and eager to help. We will definitely be returning!
Mr David Holmes, August 2014: Excellent stay, good size clean room. Breakfast choice and quality was very good. Would definitely stay again
Mr Malcolm Taylor, August 2014: We stayed in a Winston Room, which was very spacious and comfortable. The college is much larger and more modern than most Cambridge colleges, which has the advantage of modern comforts, plenty of parking space and very tranquil grounds while still quite close to the centre of Cambridge.
Ms Linda Vousden, August 2014: The porter was very helpful and pleasant when we arrived and we were made to feel very welcome and that nothing was too much trouble. We enjoyed the breakfast and generally were very pleased with our experience.
Mrs clare mccormack, August 2014: What a wonderful place to stay. We stayed in an an extremely clean room, spacious and airy, with opening windows and nice views over landscaped park area. It was very quiet and the bed was comfortable with good quality linens, so all in all we had a very good night's sleep. A nice little bag of shampoos etc was provided. Breakfast was good with plenty of variety to suit all tastes. Its also fairly central (5-min stroll through neighbouring colleges to the centre) with free parking. I can't fault this at all. I've stayed in hotels (not cheap ones either) in Cambridge before and thought this was far better. This will definitely be my first choice of accommodation next time I come.
Mrs Susan Healey, August 2014: Cannot comment on breakfast as we didn't stay long enough to enjoy it, but supper in the bar was great. The porters and bar staff were all excellent too. Thanks to all
Mr Eric Averkiou, August 2014: Excellent! Ill be booking again. Highly recommend
Prof Jim Bryant, August 2014: Really enjoyed our stay. Pity we hit an unusually hot and humid spell as even with the fan it was hard to keep the room cool enough. An added bonus though was having a grand-stand view of cricket being played on two evenings!
Miss Natrah Akib, August 2014: Churchill College went out of their way to accommodate me.
Miss Cristiana Silva, August 2014: The rooms were tidy, clean, spacy with a good view to the garden. the breakfast offered a nice variety.
Miss Kathleen Long, August 2014: STaff very friendly
Miss Beth Rye, August 2014: Me and my parents absolutely loved our night here! Easy to get to and near the city centre. Lovely rooms and amazing 60's style building. Beautiful grounds and very helpful porters. We will definitely stay here again! Highly recommend this accomodation :) a great way to experience Cambridge.

Prof Elda Wilmot, August 2014: Had a wonderful stay. We would gladly go back there.
Mrs Christine Clark, August 2014: Peaceful surroundings, comfortable bed, great choice of breakfast food - I would certainly come again.
Ms Susan Rogers, July 2014: Can't recall room number. I think the bathroom might need a bit of glue on trim near sink. We really enjoyed the room and thought the slippers were a great accompaniment to the towels. We kept on using them all through our month-long travels. We stayed in a number of hotels in UK and France; Churchill College rooms were right up there with the best, and way better than our London hotel. I will be recommending CC to friends who might be in the area.
Miss Zola Dean, July 2014: The gentlemen at Porter Lodge were extremely friendly and helpful. The room was perfect size, comfortable bed and I was very impressed with the shower. Breakfast was lovely with a great selection. Very pleased with my stay.
Miss Jane Calderbank, July 2014: I very much enjoyed staying in Churchill College as I have family connections with the university. However, I feel the price was too high for what was actually on offer (ie a very basic room and shared bathroom).
Mr CHOONG-YEOL KIM, July 2014: Very good. Specifically the calm and peaceful environment, and the wide and green playground. But the wifi internet was not perfect. The speed of the Internet was too late to watch BBC news programs.
Mr Tim McLachlan, July 2014: Superb Porters - very helpful
Dr Serge Boffa, July 2014: No tv in the room, limited WIFI, but... to stay in a college is a wonderfull experience!
Mr Taffere Tesfachew, July 2014: Staff efficient and pleasant. Breakfast superb. Parking a huge plus and the city centre only a short walk away. We will be back!
Mr JOHN CLAYTON, July 2014: your ability to produce a wheelchair for my wife was invaluable because her mobility is restricted and we could not have managed without it.Very many thanks
Mrs Lynn Quinn, July 2014: We would visit again & recommend to friends.
The space & experience of the grounds & college areas was an insight into student life.
Miss Candace Banks, July 2014: Great stay at Churchill college! It was an easy walk into the town center and accommodations were outstanding. Great breakfast as well!
Mr Jordan Thompson, July 2014: The room was great, about twice the size as the rooms my colleagues were were staying in at the conference I was attending for the same price. The porters were friendly and very helpful.
Prof John Aplin, July 2014: lovely light open feel to the college.
Dr Carolyn Jones, July 2014: Lovely spacious room. Shower room would have been better with more hooks or towel rail.

Hr. Lars Götte, July 2014: We are very surprised by the very good accommodation. thanks for beautiful days. we'll meet again.
Miss Alyssa Lim, July 2014: Great experience staying at CHURCHILL College. Porters and the team at porters lodge are very helpful. Parking easily available and close proximity to rooms. Breakfast is good and have a variety of items. Room is cosy and warm. Bathroom is simple and complete. Easy access to the downtown core. Overall very good experience. I will stay here again.
Mrs Margaret Jull Costa, July 2014: Very pleasant stay. Room spotless and generally very quiet, apart from slamming doors (not sure you can do anything about this given the nature of fire doors). Very helpful staff and generous breakfast.
Mr Arnaud Bailly, July 2014: Had a very pleasant stay in a beautiful place. If you love modern architecture from the 60s, this is a great specimen!
Mr Gareth Williams, July 2014: From the pleasant greeting from the Porters to the check out it was a very good experience. It was great to get a feel for Churchill College and we have made a point of checking its history. It was excellent value for money
Ms Nicola McMillan, July 2014: Churchill College is amazing architecturally. I really thought my stay was value for money and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It's also nice to be just out of the hustle and bustle of the centre - while still in easy walking distance. Plenty of breakfast options as well.
Mrs Philippa McGregor, July 2014: Very good value for money would use again
Mrs Sharon R Stevenson, July 2014: Loved the 1960's architecture & sculptures.

Mrs Stephanie Lobendhan, July 2014: Have nothing to complain about, everything was good, the people concerned were helpful, shame we did not have much time to spend in Cambridge.
Stephanie & Rienzie
Mr Morten Broberg, July 2014: Have left feedback on feedback-form when leaving.
Overall - excellent value for money. Perhaps you could make it more apparent that shower and toilet are shared. Very good service at porters' lodge.
Mr Joë Bouchard, July 2014: The WIFI did not work during my stay, and I would have needed. It would be useful to suggest your customers to bring flip-flops for the shower, or sell flip-fops at the Porter's Lodge. The breakfasts were very good. Overall, the value for money was good.
Mrs Ann Kronbergs, July 2014: Very good quality of service. Water in block 37 was tepid or cold. Our only complaint.
Mr Wernfried Krieger, July 2014: I've really enjoyed greatly coming back to Churchill with its splended grounds and superb atmosphere!
Mr Giovanni DE ZORZI, July 2014: It was difficult to find a free shower. Maybe one per floor is too little. But it was the graduations period, and during the weekend there were parents act. The overall experience of staying at Churchill's was very good.
Mr Oliver Gerlach, June 2014: The porters of Churchill College are the kindest and friendliest of Cambridge!
I liked the architecture and the clear and bright rooms, and my morning walks through the back side parks. Whenever I will return to Cambridge, I will look forward to rent a room in your college again.
The only problem I had was to find you, when I arrived with the bus. It would be helpful to have a phone number for the evening, just to know that somebody is there (not everyvody is familiar with the porter lodges of Cambridge) and to ask for the address, so that visitors can ask others for directions or take a cab.
Mr nadeem sheikh, June 2014: I enjoyed my stay at Churchill college Cambridge and would stay again. However my one comment was that I never got new towels for my next day (I thought they might change them) but apart from that it was a nice experience

Mr Andrew Wilkinson, April 2014: This was my second stay at Churchill College and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The room was pleasant, comfortable and well equipped with plenty of parking close by. The dining hall was open this time and I enjoyed a lovely breakfast each morning, plus dinner on a few occasions. The buttery was a pleasant place to sit and have a drink and the grounds are beautiful, all set in a quiet part of west Cambridge. A really good short break and I'll definitely be booking again.
Mrs Yahong Qian, April 2014: We enjoyed our stay in Churchill college. The room is warm and comfortable. Parking is convenient. Breakfast is excellent with many choices. We walked to town centre easily.
Mr Michael Lichten, January 2014: I would be very happy to use the facilities again
Ms Cliona Brady, October 2013: I was here for one night attending a conference. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean, with towels and cosmetics provided. The porter and dining staff were very pleasant. Had a very enjoyable stay, and will certainly return. Thank you!

Miss Susan Christie, September 2013: I found the process of booking a room very easy. Accommodation was basic but was ideal as we just stayed one night. Breakfast was very good. Mr Simon Litvak, September 2013: I was happy to be lodged in the same site of the meeting. The rooms were confortable. Unfortunately the end of the summer in Cambridge looked like the middle of winter (at least during the meeting) and the heating in the room was quite low. The people in charge of the room service and the help I received to make my WiFi work in te room was excellent. Special thanks also to the people in the porter lodge who were very kind and helpful.
Dr Margherita Doria, September 2013: Very nice people are working there.
I would have appreciate wi-fi access in the room and more outdoor lighting (it was difficult to find my room when I arrived in the evening).
Dr Trevor White, September 2013: We would really have appreciated a TV! Otherwise excellent - thankyou.

Mr Anthony Phillips, September 2013: Despite dealing with ~ 100 guests for a Conferene the Porter staff were cheerful, helpful and welcoming. The food was excellent and catered for a wide range of tastes. The Accom. was a basic student room (no phone/TV but had internet), clean, warm and well furnished. The on-site free parking was my decider when booking and significantly adds value c.f. other venues in Cambridge. A peaceful setting too. Well done Churchill!
Mrs Katherine Sibthorp, September 2013: We were very pleased with the accommodation. The only thing you might want to change is the orange drink at breakfast - orange juice would have been much nicer!! Would recommend and would stay again. Thank you.
Mr Michael Stephens, September 2013: An enjoyable stay made the more so by the very helpful staff in the Lodge and Dining Room. Will use again if the opportunity arises. We were particularly grateful to be allowed to leave our car parked at the College until well after the booking out time.

Mr Harry Fletcher, August 2013: My first ever stay in a University College and it will certainly from now not be the last.

Mr Peter Dale, August 2013: Thank you, my family enjoyed a comfortable nights sleep and excellent breakfast.

Ms Veronica Gilbert, July 2012: Thanks for a lovely stay at Churchill College on Saturday. The complimentary toiletries were a wonderful surprise, as well as the comp biscuits (great for morning cuppa prior to breakfast). Breakfast service on Sunday was also more than expected with a full english available if required.
Porters Lodge - very friendly and helpful.
Only downside for me was the proximity of the parking. I managed to find one space on the private road but it was still a bit of a walk to the front and our room (it was raining so that was the real gripe!!!). If I could have parked off to the side in staff parking which was plentiful it would have been preferable.
Would definitely recommend to friends coming to Cambridge.
Already looking at other university campuses for our next city visit.
Mr Hasan Abdulla, July 2012: Churchill College may find it useful to have a large signpost at their road entrance. The site can be missed during heavy rains.
Dr Eric Kaldjian, July 2012: The room worked perfectly for us. The toiletry kits and biscuits were unexpectedly cozy things for a college room. The porters in the lodge were immensely helpful and the use of the college tennis courts delightful.

Dr Anne Lomax, July 2012: The reception and booking organisation were excellent. The porter ordering me a taxi was very helpful, as was the taxi free-phone number for my return taxi.
The light and extractor to the shower did not seem to work. Fortunately, the weather was such that opening the bathroom door and bedroom windows soon cleared the steam.
A bedside lamp would have been useful for reading in bed. Otherwise the room was very comfortable and the windows onto the garden made it very pleasant.
The room and parking were ideal for my visit and the breakfast was perfect.
Mr Matthew McVeigh, July 2012: Great place to say, lovely grounds, parking a huge bonus and good breakfast too.
Mr Rudolf Burcl, July 2012: Fantastic experience, travelling to Cambridge in the future, I will check availability of the room first in Churchill ;-) Thanks for everything

Mr Stephen Clarke, September 2011: Pleasant,interesting environment,comfortable room,very good breakfast,friendly and helpful staff:in total,excellent value
Dr Aisling O'Donnell, September 2011: This college accommodation is good value for money. I stayed here when attending a conference at a nearby college which had much more expensive accommodation. It is a bit basic in that you have to share bathroom facilities, but I never once had to wait for the bathroom so it worked out fine. The bedrooms are large and clean with a desk which is handy if you are attending a conference.
Mr Karl Gambles, September 2011: Very impressed indeed. Excellent facilities and staff very helpful. I will recommend it to friends and family and will book again.

Overall a very gratifying experience!
Mrs jennifer lewis, August 2011: This was the first time my son and i had experienced the university rooms stay. We will certainly do it again.
Mr Robin Spike, August 2011: Excellent value for money and a unique experience. all staff extremely helpful. the room was larger than most hotel rooms plus the extras of shower gel - a nice touch. We also used the canteen which was great value for money. Lovely to be able to stay in such beautiful surroundings.
Mr George Cunningham, August 2011: Very good - better than a travel lodge! Just not such a fan of the creaking floor boards...
Mrs katy Nelson, August 2011: we needed somewhere to park the car in walking distance of the city centre. this was PERFECT. very impressed and will definitely consider university accomodation in future

It was very cheap because it included breakfast and comfortable room.

Miss Patricia Schmelzeisen, July 2011: A great place to stay within easy walking distance to the main attractions in Cambridge. It is a nice and tidy place offering a peacable atmostphere for travelers of all ages. I can only recommend a stay at Churchill.
Mrs Susan Parsons, July 2011: Overall really great! Only 2 comments for improvements. There was no bedside light and no muesli at breakfast.
Mr William Sherman, July 2011: Enjoyed my stay at Churchill College very much. Great value and wish I had booked my entire stay in Cambridge at Churchill, not just the one night.

Mrs Gertrude Smyth, July 2011: We had a very pleasant stay at Churchill College . All the staff at the Porters Lodge were very helpful and friendly . Thanks to all .
Dr Mike Bateman, April 2011: We enjoyed our stay at Churchill College - well located only a short walk into the centre of Cambridge with excellent car-parking. All College staff were extremely welcoming and very helpful. We were a bit disappointed that whilst the double room was serviced after one day, the two single rooms were not.
David Hird, April 2011: Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice to be part of an academic environment in idyllic surroundings. City centre a 10 minute bus ride away.
Mrs Rebecca Court, April 2011: More important to be somewhere significant than the standard of accomodation. It was better than my old college in Oxford!

Cheryl Tree, September 2010: Was very pleased with the room, and the hospitality much more than i had expected from uni accomodation,. such as towels provided, i had taken my own. Amazing breakfast so much choice...and fried bread was the best!
Janet Heineck, September 2010: Room was spacious, even the single that I had. I don't at all mind sharing facilities, but wish that there had been a shower and not just a bathtub. The men at the porter's lodge were as friendly as ever. Also, your website is inviting and easy to use.
Hugh Irivine Axton, September 2010: I booked for two nights at Churchill College as I would be using the Churchill Archives. However, it is certainly a super place to stay when in Cambridge. The parking on site is a definite bonus but the general feel of the college where everyone is cheerfull and helpful adds to the pleasure staying at Churchill College. I spoke to others staying on a B&B basis. All without exception were more than happy, had enjoyed their stay and would come again; as will I.
One benefit of staying at a University College is that the rooms have a large desk, something missing in most B&Bs. Thank you for the opportunity to give my view.
Patrick De Smet, September 2010: Excellent price/quality value
Dr Chris Andrews, September 2010: We had a lovely time in the most delightful environment and thank you very much.
Dr Pavels Gordins, September 2010: We enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

The only thing that might have improved our stay was that the room was a little cold.
Heather Janiak, September 2010: Excellent hospitality, lovely toiletries in a handy bag and a spacious amount of room. Only drawback was the distance to the town center but it's not a very long walk, unless you have luggage. Not the best sound insulation if someone is staying in a room above your room. Very helpful porters!
Natalia Vale Asari, September 2010: Very helpful staff and good location.
Mr. John N. Pryer, September 2010: Really excellent accom; perfect for our needs. Having a secure bike shed was really useful as well. Picked Churchill because of the free parking and again this was really useful.
Only one minor point - the room was a little on the cold side - i should have got a heater from the porters.
Giles Hobson, September 2010: If you don't a bit of a walk (between room and car park and into Cambridge itself) and have no need of a TV in your room, Churchill College represents an excellent value alternative to conventional hotel accommodation. I hope to stay again.
Karl Gambles, September 2010: Very impressed. Helpful friendly staff, very good facilities and excellent breakfast. Would recommend to friends and family.
Mrs Natalie Burton, September 2010: Churchill is a fantastic place to stay. As it is out of the city centre, albeit a short walk or bus journey, it was lovely and quiet compared to the centre itself on the Saturday night I stayed. There was also ample parking. I found the staff to be friendly and helpful, face-to-face and via email. To cap it all, the breakfast was superb! Ideal for a short break/ overnight trip.
Mary ann Coupland, September 2010: Fabulous place to have a reunion. Will defnitely use University rooms again. Oh and the guys at the Porters lodge at Churchill College were awesome as my daughter would say!
Gillian Adams, September 2010: We had a very pleasant weekend in Cambridge thanks. Many thanks.

Robert Walker, August 2010: We have stayed at Churchill College before and find it ideal for visiting family in Cambridge.
BRIAN THORPE, August 2010: I think you should change the towels occasionally, they get rather dirty after a week.I saw a review criticising the communal showers, but I had no problems with finding it in use when I wanted it, and it was much better than the "pods" that other universities have.

Mr M Lane, July 2010: Exellent breakfast choice and quality. Rooms were as expected and good value for money. Will use again if in area at the right time.

provided by a bank could be beneficial.

Manuel Manzanares Fernandez, July 2010: The staff was really friendly and hepful.
Mrs H E Monteiro, July 2010: A side light would have been good.
Massive bath not very good for saving water! Shower would have been better.
Friendly and attentive porters and cleaning ladies. Great feeling of space.
James Gibson, July 2010: The porters were extremely helpful and it was useful to be able to park the car.

Nitza Chikerema, July 2010: Very spacious room in lovely surroundings. Better than I expected.
L Johnston, July 2010: Excellent, going to stay again (twice in the next few weeks). Only complaint is the main car park being a long way from the check in desk and the lack of directions/information on parking closer.
K. B. Potts, June 2010: As a first experience of staying in a Cambridge College it was one I would repeat without hesitation, and it was particularly stimulating to meet and converse with others staying at the college.
Janet Godwin, June 2010: Just more attention to sinks ans showers... excellent location and very reasaonable rate for a very expensive city.

I would also like to book at other universities .
Mary McPartland, February 2010: I really enjoyed my stay at Churchill College. The room was very nice and well-maintained. The meals in the dining hall (breakfast, lunch and dinner) were more than adequate. The Porters were very helpful in answering questions about the College, Cambridge itself, and public transit. It was also handy to be able to make a reservation only a few days before my arrival.
Ms B Braithwaite, February 2010: This was ideal for visiting Cambridge with a car and only a 10-15 minute walk from the centre and artistic places to visit such as Kettle's Yard and the Fitzwilliam, and restaurants for dining out in the evening. The campus has many sculptures of note and is lovely to wander around in the evening. The porters were very helpful. I would definitely return here if I wanted another couple of days in Cambridge during the vacation period. Beryl B
