Set in 42 acres of open parkland in the north west corner of the city, Churchill College's location is a ten minute walk (or a short bus ride) from the historic city centre. Parking, which is at a premium in this city, is free, however, please note, it operates on a first come first serve basis and cannot be reserved or guaranteed. Please note, the College cannot accommodate pets.

Whilst not old like some other colleges, the light, generously proportioned rooms fulfill the needs of the modern traveller, including a spacious desk and free WiFi with a hospitality tray and toiletries.

History to the present day

Founded in 1958, Churchill College is the National and Commonwealth Memorial to Sir Winston Churchill. Nobel Prize winners Francis Crick, discoverer of the structure of DNA, and Anthony Hewish, the discoverer of the pulsar, were amongst its founding Fellows.

Food and Drinks

Full English and continental breakfasts are included and are served either in the college Buttery or the main Dining Hall between 07.30 and 09.30.

For lunch and dinner, guests are welcome to use either the dining hall or the buttery on a cash basis subject to opening hours and occasional private bookings.

Please note this is not self-catering accommodation, the student kitchen facilities are not for external guests.

The Buttery bar is open throughout the day for snacks and drinks (subject to some restricted opening times).  It provides the perfect space for catching-up with emails whilst relaxing with a refreshing drink, and a piano is available for those with a musical bent.

Grounds and gardens

Our spacious grounds are home to an extensive collection of contemporary sculptures from a variety of well-known artists. They provide the perfect backdrop for an hour or two relaxing in the sun with a cool drink and a good book.

Other facilities

Additional facilities for residents include an on-site laundry, a TV room, an all day bar and café (subject to some restricted opening times) and sports facilities including squash and tennis courts and a multi-gym. Sports equipment, irons and hair dryers can all be borrowed from the Porters' Lodge.

Please note this is not self-catering accommodation, the student kitchen facilities are not available for external guests.

There is plentiful free parking on site. However, please note spaces cannot be reserved, it operates on a first come first serve basis.

Pleasant stay ... cheerful rooms and lovely breakfast ! A tv in the room would have been an additional perk !
Mrs shameneh F

Thrilled to find myself in a listed modernist building with various Hepworths around the site. Very tranquil college produced a good sleep experience.
Ms Lorna M

This was a great experience and way to stay over for a work trip to Cambridge University. I will definitely plan to use you again if I go to the Cavendish Laboratory which is just a short walk away.
Dr Michael W

Wonderful stay and great value. Thank you.
Mrs Janet R

Friendly reception in Churchill College, spacious and clean room (en suite), very good breakfasts in the Hall. All of that in reasonable walking distance to the centre of Cambridge: we had a joyful stay in lovely Cambridge.
Mr A.H.C. K

The room was clean & quiet. Lovely breakfast choice & college well situated for city centre. Easy access by quick & efficient taxi service. Good value for money.
Mrs Margaret C

The room was spacious and comfortable, although no more special than you might expect for what is effectively student digs. However, it makes an excellent alternative to very expensive accommodation in Cambridge and we would happily return.
Mr Stephen P

Would use the college again.
Mr Michael G

This was a lovely way to experience Cambridge. We have recommended it to others.
Mrs Karin M
