Castle Leazes accommodates over 1,000 students during term time and during the summer vacation many of these rooms are available for guests. Social facilities on the site include 3 large dining rooms, TV rooms, games room, snooker room, shop and launderette. There is also a fully licensed bar on site, however, this is only available when sufficient numbers of guests are in hall.
All the study bedrooms have a wash hand basin and shared shower and bathroom facilities. In addition nine rooms are specially fitted for guests with disabilities. Some rooms have attactive moorland views. Rooms are clean and tidy and serviced daily.
All bedrooms are double-glazed with thermostatically controlled central heating. Bed linen, towels, welcome packs and complimentary tea and coffee-making facilities are provided in each bedroom.
Hairdryers are available from Castle Leazes main Reception. A £5 deposit will be required.

Dr Annette K, September 2012: very friendly staff!
Mr Urs Georg A, August 2012: Everything was all right, I got a quiet room, that's what I was looking for.
Mrs Susan F, July 2012: Student room was comfortable and what you would expect for the money. Very close to university and town and with nice views over a field.
Mr Paul M, September 2011: Thanks for a very enjoyable stay. I thought the staff at reception and in the catering unit were very good and made our stay even more enjoyable.
My comments on the standard of the room are based on what I have encountered at other universities. In several cases the room has included a shower and in some cases a TV. I can not remember if Newcastle offers such facilities but this would have been the icing on the cake. Its certainly not an issue that would prevent me from re-booking or recommending the service to others.
Mr Michael F, August 2011: Very friendly staff who were very helpful
Dr Susan P, July 2011: This is my second stay at Castle Leazes and it was excellent in all aspects. I needed to change rooms and reception staff were helpful & they found me a better room speedily. All staff were friendly & positive, including reception, dining room, domestic & gardeners...everyone I came into contact with. Another happy holiday in Newcastle!

Laurence M, August 2010: This was our 2nd visit-even better than the first; service was excellent -reception staff were all approachable and friendly; rooms were clean and toilet and shower facilities were clean, in good working order and well maintained. The breakfasts were first class-the introduction of 'smoothies' was a real innovation staff and catering staff were helpful and efficient. Everyone involved was a credit to the University-we certainly hope that the University continues to offer this service for many years to come. We really enjoyed our stay

Miss Margaret O, July 2009: Food at breakfast was plentiful but I did notice that the orange juice was watered down and it would be really good if the hot water supplied for tea and coffee could be kept warmer than in the thermos flasks used. However, I thought you were excellent value for money and very helpful!
Karen L, July 2009: I booked two rooms unfortunately they were on different floors, it would of been better if they were next to each other.Apart from that i enjoyed my stay.
