Geschichte

The hotel was built in 1859 to be the summer residence of the Count of Graciosa and it was the first manor house to ever been built in Luso. Set to be a hotel unit since 1939, it has been managed by the Alegre family ever since then.

Several restaurants with wonderful food are available within walking distance and Coimbra city restaurants are only 25Km distance away and the city of Mealhada famous for its roasted suckling pig and the Bairrada wine. 

Grundstücke und Gärten

The hotel is situated only a 100 meters away from Bussaco National Park, which is full of exotic trees brought from overseas by the Portuguese sailors, cold springs of crystalline water and dramatic view points over the sea line.

It was a closed park until the early XIX Century, used for meditation by monks of a Spanish religious order (Carmelites) that build its monastery and a collection of small chapels with special permission of Felipe III of Spain (Felipe II of Portugal).
