Through a cobbled archway on West Wycombe High Street, you come to the entrance of a coaching inn built in the early 18th Century. When you walk in, it feels quite natural that people have been doing this for almost three centuries. Generations of traders, travellers, lovers and visitors have left traces of their presence on the building and its atmosphere.
The attentive service you receive from our staff, however, leaves you in no doubt that you are in the present now. Whether you hope for quick service for a business lunch or a more relaxed pace for dinner with friends, you will not be disappointed. On a fine day, you can sit in our large garden.
You can stay at the George and Dragon, and will find your premium bedroom both modern, charismatic and comfortable .We have two family rooms , one of the room is four-poster beds and all of them have the uneven floorboards and quirky angles that come with age. One room straddles the archway into the inn's courtyard and another gives a view over the old roofs and chimneys of West Wycombe. Recent concessions to modern living include, en-suite bathrooms, tea and coffee making facilities and freeview TV.
Owner and Head Chef of the George & Dragon, Arnaud Stevens has a history that is steeped in food. With his Anglo-French culture ,his background was heavily influenced by his French born mother and uncle - his focus was always on the culture of the South of France, where people join together to enjoy wholesome, flavourful food, made with fresh local produce.
Arnaud is excited to take over the reigns at the historic George & Dragon hotel and restaurant and bring his unique marriage of French and British cooking.
As you would expect from an establishment where good dining is such a high priority, we also have a choice of well kept real ales, an excellent wine list and a fine range of malt whiskies.
