Overview

Spylaw Bank House is an elegant Georgian country house built in 1790 situated in the leafy surroundings of the village of Colinton which is nestled at the foot of the Pentland Hills and only four miles from Edinburgh city centre. This is a listed house set in beautiful mature gardens with ample off road parking.

Within minutes of the house is the Water of Leith pathway where you can walk, run or cycle tracing the river to the art galleries of the West End and the city centre. We have easy access to the Pentland Hills where walking is recommended to enjoy spectacular panoramic views of Edinburgh and its coastline.

Stylish and exclusive accommodation is offered where you can relax in the original drawing room with its open fire and antique furnishings. Breakfast is served in the period dining room where we offer a menu of traditional Scottish breakfast or lighter alternatives. Special diets can be catered for.

The three bedrooms are luxuriously appointed all with en-suite bathrooms / shower rooms and many personal touches. They have cable TV, DVD players, refreshment trays and hair dryers. The superior double rooms have fine views of the hills.

Colinton is one of the few remaining self contained villages in the city of Edinburgh and has historic links to Robert Louis Stevenson. The village has three fine restaurants less than a ten minute walk and reservations will be made for guests if required.

We are ideally situated for sightseeing in Edinburgh and touring the Borders, Fife, St Andrews, Glasgow, Perthshire and the Highlands. Access to Spylaw Bank House is easy from the Airport (five miles) and from the City Bypass (one mile). An excellent and frequent bus service operates to

Edinburgh nearby and the journey time is 15 minutes.
Edinburgh offers amazing world class facilities including shopping, art and culture, festivals, restaurants, leisure activities such as golf, walking, cycling, dry slope skiing, rugby, and curling to name but a few.
