Historia

Although the palace was built by Lazaro de Briones in 1561, the palace can be traced to the late XVIIIth century, to Bartolome Quintanilla y Arce, as the house is listed in the registry of the neighbours of the parish of Santa María. Through genealogy records the lineage can be traced from Bartolomé Quintanilla to Lazaro de Briones, who in 1560 was awarded the recognition of an extended coat of arms for his service and accomplishments in favour of the Spanish Crown in the conquest of the provices of Peru, which was published in1560. The shield atop the door to the palace presents the arms of the Briones family as detailed in this grant signed by King Felipe II of Spain, and on the two left lower quarters, the Quintanilla family emblem – a beaded cross.

Comida y bebida

Breakfast is served at the beautiful Loggia conservatory with a choice of Continental breakfast priced at 16.50€  per person.

Dining is formal and the food and wines are both first class and without pretence or fanfare. Guests may enjoy tapas and cocktails at Felipe’s Bar which is more relaxed.
