Storia

Founded in 1870 in memory of John Keble, a central figure in the controversial Oxford Movement which sought to recover the Catholic heritage of the Church of England, Keble is one of the largest colleges in Oxford. Although the College has produced many notable Anglican leaders, it is no longer formally tied to the Church of England and no longer are the Fellows, or the Warden, beholden to an external Council of ecclesiastical worthies.

Keble now has over 600 students, both graduates and undergraduates who come from a great variety of social and educational backgrounds, and from diverse parts of the UK, Europe and further overseas. It is noted for both its academic and sporting successes and its music, notably the Chapel Choir, which is among the best in Oxford.

Our rates include an English breakfast served at your table in our magnificent Gothic dining hall - the longest in Oxford.

A two course set dinner, using fresh seasonal produce and prepared under the supervision of the College's experienced Executive Chef, may be available during vacations only at the special price of £10.25 per person including VAT. We offer a select list of wines as well as bottled water for sale to accompany your meal.

Bookings for dinner may be made in the Lodge when you check in but it must be prior to 3pm daily.  We are unable to accept advance bookings for dinner. However, if you would like dinner on the day of arrival, we can accept a telephone booking on the day.  Please call the Porters Lodge on 01865 272727 before 3pm to check availability and menu.  Payment for dinner will be taken on arrival.

The College Bar is a contemporary Grade 2* listed glass building nestled in the pretty Hayward Quad with indoor and outdoor seating.  It is generally open every day providing a relaxing space in colourful surroundings for guests to unwind after a busy day. Check in the Lodge for hours of opening.

Terreni & Giardini

Keble boasts four delightful quads each with its own character and gardens.  From the Liddon Quad - one of the largest in Oxford - to the more intimate Pusey Quad.  Newman Quad with its herbaceous border and the Hayward Quad where drinks are served in the summer complete the quartet.

All have chairs and benches where guests can sit and enjoy the peace and quiet as well as the magnificent surroundings.

All bedrooms have an ethernet point for which a cable is required - available from the Lodge for a small charge.  We do not offer a WiFi network access. 

Unfortunately we are unable to allow access to the internet during University Term - 13 April to 22 June inclusive.  Guests are welcome to use the computer in Cafe Keble during term to access the internet.

Telephones in rooms are card operated and the Lodge sells cards which may be topped up as required although any telephone charge card with 0800 access number can be used.
