I got such a kick out of staying at the Castle Keep, and was even delighted to climb the 87 stairs to my room because, hey, it's all part of the experience. Durham University does such a nice job of running this B&B: the rooms and bathrooms are clean, the breakfasts good and varied, and the staff friendly and helpful. Thank-you! Pair of mens socks found in room on the chair obviously left from person before but never mind, it was a very busy period as the Ashes were on. Wonderful breakfast and overall very good value for money, thank you. My only comment would be that it was odd that there were no sinks near the toilets! We had a great one night stopover at Hatfield College, Durham. From the first contact with the porter to the lovely, welcoming dining team everyone was so friendly and helpful. Room was very clean. Excellent views. Great to have a kettle with tea and biscuits. Breakfast very good indeed. Perfect location for Durham experience. All of the staff were very friendly and efficient. The room was very clean with tea and coffee making facilities. Although our room was not en-suite, it had a basin and the showers and toilets were only a few metres away in the corridor and were very clean. Amazing building. Not luxurious , but lovely experience to stay in a castle and great value for money. Would have been great if breakfast was served slightly earlier, as had to catch an early bus each day. Also disappointed that I was not allowed to use the laundry facilities.
