The Bird in Hand is a family run freehouse and restaurant set in the heart of the beautiful Norfolk countryside where you are always assured of a warm welcome from the whole team. Under the same family ownership since 2008, the Bird has been a public house for over 200 years with the first recorded landlord taking the reins in 1794. We offer an eclectic mix of the modern and traditional with our extensive menus all lovingly prepared in house by our creative kitchen brigade. Award winning breakfasts and daily fresh specials complement our lunchtime and evening menus and you can choose from a range of dining areas both inside and outside (weather permitting!).

Perfectly situated for Lotus Cars and Hethel Engineering Centre with good transport links to the A11, we are also within easy reach of Norfolk and Suffolk's best attractions including the Suffolk Heritage Coastline, Banham Zoo, Pleasurewood Hills theme park and Go Ape Thetford. The historic town of Wymondham is just a ten minute drive and if shop til you drop is more your thing, you'll find a mixture of quirky boutiques, department stores and high street retailers only six miles away in the renowned shopping city of Norwich.

We're certain you'll enjoy your stay with us in one of our beautifully appointed guest bedrooms where quality comes as standard, from the sumptuous king size Hypnos beds and Egyptian cotton bedlinen to all the little extras we offer.
