Tourists; Four Castles, Abbeys, Museums, Rabbie Burns, Robert the Bruce, J M Barrie, Thomas Carlyle, Commodore John Paul Jones, Many Lochs and rivers, The Solway coast, The Galloway Forrest. All within a short walk or drive! I know we are biased because we live here but this really is a beautiful area to visit.
Mountain bikers; We provide the perfect base for you to ride the 7 stanes, Scotland's award winning mountain bike tracks. Only a 10 to 20 minutes drive from Mabie Forest, Ae Forest, Dalbeatie and all seven of the trails are less than an hour and a half away. Drumlanrig castle also provides some very entertaining mountain bike tracks. A lockable workshop for your mountain bikes with ample tools if necessary and a hosepipe and power washer available.
Walkers; The southern upland way, Solway coastal path, Burns trail, Mabie Forest and the Glenkiln sculpture trail to name but a few of the many attractions in this area.
Golfers; Southerness, Powfoot, The County, Dumfries and Galloway, Thornhill, Lockerbie, Colvend. With all of these fantastic golf courses and many more within a short drive To say this area is a perfect location for a golfing holiday is an under statement
Motorcyclists;
My wife and I are bikers so we are definitely motorcycle friendly. The hotel has a dedicated separate motorbike parking area. Tools and workshop are available if needed. Advice on local routes is freely given and if I get the chance I may even come with you. This really is a fantastic area for motorcycling.
