Overview

Part of the University of Ulster, the Coleraine campus is situated on the northern bank of the river, about a 10 minute walk from the centre of the town. The Student Village contains 350 ensuite guest bedrooms which feature a simple modern decor. All include internet connections, desks and private bathrooms with showers. Rooms are provided in 5 person apartment units sharing a communal kitchen/dining area in blocks of accommodation over 3 floors.

History

With its pristine Blue Flag beaches, championship golf courses and views of Donegal to the north west and Scotland to the north east, the dramatic coastline is considered one of the most scenic in Europe. Situated just outside Bushmills, the Giant’s Causeway, a UNESCO World Heritage site is the most visited tourist attraction in Northern Ireland. It also gives the Causeway Coast its name.

Food & beverage

The campus contains bar and cafeteria facilities based in the South Building right next to the sports centre. The central part of the campus contains a coffee and newspaper shop and a supermarket.

There are plentiful and diverse options for those wishing to eat on campus including The Streat, a Spar supermarket and University catering facility. The Student Union provides hot and cold food via its outlets both within the bar and the cafeteria in the South building.

Grounds & Gardens

The University campus is set within 312 acres of landscaped and mature parkland containing tranquil garden areas, the Guy L. Wilson Daffodil garden and the Millennium Arboretum.

The six-site Arboretum - located on the University’s Coleraine campus - is the only one of its kind in the UK or Ireland, and the first new arboretum in Northern Ireland for over half a century.

With over 100 varieties of tree, the Millennium Arboretum represents the culmination of four years work by the University; the idea originally stemming from contacts between the University and Coleraine District Horticultural Society in 1998.

Other facilities

As well as eating establishments, the South Building also houses an ATM and hairdressers. There is a Post Office located on the central part of the campus.

Coin operated laundry facilities are available, as well as free internet access.

There is a Riverside Theatre onsite, and tennis courts are available.
