Hughes Parry Hall, Bloomsbury, London

History

The Hall was originally for male students; it only went mixed in 1971.
The first warden, Dr Jeffery David Lewins, was appointed in December 1968. The first students were admitted in 1969 and the Hall was officially opened by the Chancellor of the university, her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother in February 1970. Dr Lewins spent ten years in the hall with his family.

Food & beverage

Breakfast is included in the room rate and consists of a variety of options, including the traditional full English, 7 days per week.

Breakfast times are: Mon - Fri 08.00 -09.00, Sat & Sun 08.30-09.30

Drinks vending machines are available.

There is a small open-air shopping mall at the end of the street with fashion shops, supermarket, several restaurants, coffee shops and a fabulous patisserie.

Bloomsbury is packed full of trendy bars, restaurants and cafes. Due to the area`s diversity and culture, you can experience tastes from all around the globe.

Grounds & Gardens

Cartwright Gardens is directly opposite Hughes Parry Hall and tennis courts can be booked at Reception. The Gardens are open 7 days per week from dawn to dusk and you can get the access code for the gate from Reception. Russell Square public park is a 5 minute walk from Hughes Parry Hall.

Other facilities

Cabled internet connection is available in each room and is included in the room rate. There is wifi connection available in the communal areas and the dining room. Connection details for wifi can be obtained from reception.

Squash courts are available in the building and can be hired by the hour. Rackets and balls are available at Reception where you can also book the court. Here you can also book the tennis courts opposite the hall.

There is a laundrette situated on the ground floor and is operated by using £1 coins.
