Historia

Passfield Hall was LSE's first residence, opened in 1948. It is named after the first Lord Passfield, Sidney Webb, one of the four members of the Fabian Society who founded LSE in 1895.

It is a prime example of the late Georgian Town Houses that characterise Bloomsbury. The building itself comprises ten houses around a courtyard garden. Seven houses make up the main block and three the two annexes. Given its grade II listed status, some rooms can only be accessed by stairs and the building retains its single glazed wooden sash windows.

In 2006 the building underwent an extensive £7m refurbishment programme and now offers a unique mix of modern facilities and classic architecture.

Comida y bebida

Breakfast is included in the price of the accommodation with an excellent choice, ranging from Continental and English options, plus tea, coffee, toast and juice. Breakfast is served in the dining room overlooking the garden. (breakfast not included in the two-bedroom flat)

Kitchens are available for use throughout the building (with microwaves, hob, toaster, kettle, fridges).

Vending machines are available 24 hours a day in the dining room.

Terrenos y jardines

Passfield boasts a walled courtyard garden - an ideal place to relax and unwind after a day in London or to take breakfast during the summer.

Otras instalaciones

Free WiFi is available throughout the building and in each room. Bright, airy common and TV room with cable TV, pool table and table tennis. Pay-as-you-go laundry room with washing machines & dryers. 24-hour CCTV and Security

Lift to some floors of the main building. Some rooms and the annexes can only be accessed via several flights of stairs.

Excellent and safe location with transport links nearby. The breakfast was an unexpected pleasure and much appreciated. Outdoor garden area was lovely. Reception desk staff were pleasant and helpful - as a female travelling alone it was good to have a point of contact. The kitchen facilities were a bonus. My only criticism is that the decor was a bit shabby - torn curtain, chipped paintwork, broken shower cubicle doors, worn carpets. The building is lovely but the inside needs repairs and revamp.

Several months ago, I did ask for an upper room with a tree view, but it's not a good idea to assign any upper room in the back building--Ensleigh?--to someone over 60, as it has no lift (and it was about 90 degrees in London that week). I do appreciate Reception's last-minute efforts to find me a room in Passfield Hall itself. The rooms are pretty shabby these days, but the location, the breakfast, and the terrace are still great, and overall P.H. is a remarkable bargain.

For £55 in London - it's a great find! Room is simple and clean with a wash basin, towels and toiletries. The breakfast delicious & plenty. You can eat it in the courtyard garden - which is very beautiful. Area is central, safe and afluent. Wonderful place.

Very good value. Kitchen coped well with large numbers wanting breakfast at 8.00AM. Screws for the towel holder in room 2018 need tightening. I was in a bit of a hurry leaving, so did not tell reception yesterday. Sorry

It was a very satisfactory experience. Breakfast was excellent. Room quite adequate, although small. Everything was very clean. Staff were very helpful..

DavidM

Friendly and helpful staff. Breakfast was great but too late at 8am. Most tourists would like to be out and about by that time. Bathrooms weren’t great.

JoanneA

Room was very clean and comfortable and overall the experience was very good. I would not hesitate to stay here again in the future.

I asked for a quiet room and I was given one! A pleasant check-in experience. Thank you.
