Überblick

Cyncoed Halls are located on Cyncoed Campus which is north of Cardiff city centre, close to Roath Park and Lake.

All rooms are are sold on a room only basis and are single en-suite. On arrival the room will be provided with bed linen and 2 towels.

The accommodation houses undergraduate students during term time and although the rooms are not equipped to a 4* hotel standard they are clean, comfortable and situated in quiet surroundings.

Geschichte

The roots of UWIC date back to the mid 1800s, however there have been some changes and UWIC as it is today was established in 1996.

In 2007 UWIC was the first UK university to be awarded the Government's Charter Mark for Excellence for the 5th time.

Uwic has over 11,000 students from over 125 countries worldwide.

UWIC's alumni include Roy Noble OBE, Lynn Davies CBE, John Inverdale, Sue Lawley, Julien Macdonald OBE, Jill Dando, David Emanuel, Michael Buerk, Gareth Edwards CBE and Ryan Jones.

Essen & Getränke

Bedrooms are in flats of 8 with a shared kitchen. A fridge, microwave and hob are supplied in the kitchen but you will need to bring your own cutlery, crockery and pans.

Within a 10 minute walk there is a small shopping area with supermarkets close by. Within 20 minutes you will reach an extensive shopping area where there are plenty of restaurants, cafés and boutiques.

'The Bench' Coffee Lounge, located on site, is available for hot and cold drinks and snacks and is open Monday to Friday.

Our main refectory is open for breakfast Monday to Friday at 8am, which can be pre-booked.

Grundstücke und Gärten

There is a green area on campus which is ideal for sitting out should the UK weather allow. Within 10 minutes you can walk to Roath Park and Lake, where you can go boating, feed the ducks, have a coffee or just relax and enjoy the scenery.

On campus you will find a gym, swimming pool, squash courts, indoor and outdoor tennis courts, which are all available to guests on a pay-as-you-go basis.

Wireless access is available on main campus. Please ensure you request an access code in the Additional Information section of the booking form.

Great accommodation for the price. The rooms and buildings were very clean and in good condition. The on site cafe was great for breakfast and very well priced with a fair choice. All staff that I encountered during booking, amendment to my booking and those on site were extremely helpful and pleasant.

Very clean rooms with a bus stop on site to Cardiff city centre (only £2 fare). Very helpful reception. Would definitely recommend. The best university rooms I have stayed at

Great place. Breakfast policy wasn't clear: free on Sept 3-5, paid on Sept 2, and unavailable before departure at 8:15 am on the 6th.

On arrival go to Main Reception in the main building to collect the keys - open 24 hours a day.

How to Find Us:

By Car: From the M4 travelling West:

Take junction 29 onto A48 (M) Eastern Avenue. Come off at Llanedeyrn junction, signposted ‘Cardiff East & Docks’. Head towards Llanedeyrn. At mini roundabout take 1st exit. At the end of Llanedeyrn Road take a right at traffic lights. You are now on Cyncoed Road, follow road, shortly after pedestrian crossing take a right into Cyncoed Campus. From M4 travelling East:

At junction 30 (Cardiff Gate) take A4232 North Pentwyn link road to A48 (M). Join A48(M) towards Cardiff. To Cyncoed Campus Follow same directions as from no. 2 – 6 (above). From North Wales – A470:

Follow the A470 towards the City Centre. When you reach Gabalfa roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A48. Come off at Llanedeyrn junction, signposted ‘Cardiff East & Docks’. At roundabout take 1st exit. Follow same directions as from no. 4 – 6 (above).

By Rail: If arriving by train to Central Station, take a number 52 bus from Custom House Street, a short walk and close to the new John Lewis store. This bus will bring you into the Campus, and the journey takes approximately 20 minutes.
