Überblick

The Hotel Kastanienhof is a friendly place to stay in the heart of Berlin-Mitte, a pulsating part of the city between the famous Alexander Square and the Prenzlauer Berg.

The hotel offers 35 rooms and is situated in a former residential home, built in the 19th century. In each of the rooms, you will find carefully selected memorabilia of Berlin’s history.

Each room can be booked for single occupancy. Please enter the promotion code “SINGLE” when prompted.

The impressive entrance hall, which leads you up to the mezzanine floor, the painted area below the gateway, parts of the stucco as well as the old staircase will make you feel part of Berlin’s history. As a result of the original floor plan, the rooms are all individually shaped and spacious, you have got a great view overlooking the city from the rooms in the attic. The rooms with a view of the green inner courtyard and the garden house will make you forget, that you are in the middle of Germany’s capital city.

Since January 1, 2014 guests have to pay the so-called city-tax upon arrival. The city-tax is imposed by the city of Berlin in the amount of 5% on the room rate. The city-tax is not included in the room rate and must be paid in cash at the hotel.

Geschichte

The hotel is located in two former residential houses in the "Kastanienallee 65 and 66“ in Berlin-Mitte. They were built in 1865, as one of the firsts houses in this area. Characteristically they are without any balconies or bays – the stucco was only taken off in the 1960s. Today, the sleek building front is decorated with charming blinds and lights.

Essen & Getränke

A rich breakfast buffet can be enjoyed weekdays from 6.30am to 10am, weekends and bank holidays from 7am to 10am.

Start your day with the so-called “Schrippen” -  that's how the locals call the bread- coffee and a complimentary daily newspaper.

Grundstücke und Gärten

The Berlin “Volkspark am Weinberg“ is only a 5- minute walk away. The Volkspark, also called the “Weinbergpark”, is the only park in the district of Berlin Mitte and covers an area of 4.3 ha. It is bordered by the “Weinbergsweg” in the South-East, the “Brunnenstrasse” in the South-West, the “Veteranenstrasse” in the North-West and the “Fehrbelliner Strasse” in the North-East. The name of the park refers to the former vineyards in this area.

South-West of the park there are sunbathing lawns, which are particularly popular during the summer months and at its feet, there is a man-made pond, further up a Swiss restaurant, a rose garden, a playground as well as sports facilities including a football pitch and ping-pong tables.
