Bankside House is in a great location right behind Tate Modern, and a short walk/cycle from the main South Bank attractions. The room was typically spartan (it is student accommodation,) and I didn't get the wifi to work on my phone, but didn't bother asking at reception as I could use roaming. The shower was OK; the bed was comfortable (the pillow a bit thin with only one provided), and compared to most central London locations it's a bargain. Breakfast was excellent and served from 7am.

Everything is very basic but clean, and rooms offer plenty of space. In fact, rooms are probably bigger than hotel rooms at this central location at a much better price. Towels, soap and shampoo were provided. We also had the use of a communal kitchen with a fridge, a microwave and a sink for washing up (no pots, pans or cuttlery). Lots of small supermarkets in the area for basic provisions. Breakfast was fantastic and will set you up for the day. Would really recommend this place!

We thoroughly enjoyed our two night stay. The reception and restaurant staff were lovely. Our room was very clean and beds comfy - definitely one of the biggest rooms we've stayed in in London. The shower was excellent too. There was a lot of choice at breakfast and it set us up for the day. We both would be very pleased to stay again in future. Thank you

Delighted with my stay. Such a convenient spot in central London- 2 minutes from Tate Modern. Simple adequate room. Great breakfast offer. I thought it was very good value for London and would definitely stay again.

Generally a great base for a holiday in London. I was disappointed however to see the bananas at breakfast were not Fairtrade, though posters displayed made a big thing of LSE’s ethical policies.

Excellent place to stay if you are looking for good value. Basic but comfy and excellent breakfast. Superb location.
