Overview

The river Cherwell runs through Magdalen's grounds which include over 100 acres of parkland - a beautiful and tranquil area in the heart of the city. Along with the magnificent cloisters, deer park and quads with formal lawns and borders, they claim to be the most beautiful college in Oxford are not without foundation.

The College offers rooms on its main site but also rooms in their Waynflete Building across Magdalen Bridge, with stunning views of the College. In this building, modest rates do not include breakfast. Whichever Magdalen accommodation you choose to book, you can be sure of a warm welcome at the Porters' Lodge, from one of the property's student staff or the porters themselves. One of them will show you to your room and answer any queries you may have. You will also have free access to the College main grounds.

Important notice: There are no passenger lifts in the accommodation buildings, and are unable to provide parking at the College.

Both rooms were spacious and comfortable. The en suite facilities were pretty good except the shower only had a 'drench' function available for a full shower but no option for more selective washing (body, feet). The beds were fine except that the duvets were a bit small and risked falling off. It was surprising that the windows were only single glazed in a modern building, and one of the windows in room 7 did not close completely. Disappointing that the tea/coffee provided was not Fairtrade.

Loved the rooms. The porters provided clear instructions. The only negative was housekeeping insisted on changing the mattress in the single 'within walls' room at 9.00 in the morning- it's ok to disturb students during term time but paying guests should be left alone!

We were disposed to be delighted by the college buildings and were not disappointed. Spacious rooms, with new mattresses and armchairs arriving on the second day!! Luxury breakfast: all the cooked bits and...pain au choco and lemon posset, wow. Well done.

The porters were charming and very helpful. The room was a bit shoddy (understatement). The College gardens were magnificent. In general, the room served its purpose (I wanted to be on that side of Oxford) but I will probably look elsewhere next time.

very pleasant experience, porter staff was super friendly, room was spacious and clean, the grounds are beautiful and great location! Bathrooms would benefit from an update, though they were clean and good enough

I got three rooms. One for myself and two for my parents. One of the room is huge and has a piano in it. Definitely worth the money for the experience and convenience.

Good accommodation, great value for money, perfect loaction. One drawback: it was a bit cold in the room.

Superb setting and good service.

Bathroom should be in the room
