Magdalen College, Oxford

University Residence

The river Cherwell runs through Magdalen's grounds which include over 100 acres of parkland - a beautiful and tranquil area in the heart of the city. Along with the magnificent cloisters, deer park and quads with formal lawns and borders, they claim to be the most beautiful college in Oxford are not without foundation.

The College offers rooms on its main site but also rooms in their Waynflete Building across Magdalen Bridge, with stunning views of the College. In this building, modest rates do not include breakfast. Whichever Magdalen accommodation you choose to book, you can be sure of a warm welcome at the Porters' Lodge, from one of the property's student staff or the porters themselves. One of them will show you to your room and answer any queries you may have. You will also have free access to the College main grounds.

Important notice: There are no passenger lifts in the accommodation buildings, and are unable to provide parking at the College.

First visit to Oxford. Lovely room overlooking the deer park. En-suite with towels and tea making facilities and fridge. Lovely breakfast. Only downside was there was not a plug socket next to the mirror but not the end of the world. Helpful staff. Would stay again.

Fairly basic room, with shared bathroom. However, you can't knock it for the price and the locaiton. Super friendly and helpful staff.

The service was very good, the people were very nice and helpful. One door was broken in the room, but it was no problem for 1 night!

Wonderful stay. Very nice lodgings. As check in and check out are at 10 a.m., more room to store luggage during the day would be helpful.

Location was excellent and the staff were very friendly. I think it would be preferable to have separate male and female bathroom/toilets rather than one shared block. Bathroom and toilets were also very basic and could do with a major refurbishment. Other than that, very good value and afforda...
