Overview

The University of Essex Colchester Campus offers modern en-suite accommodation set in its picturesque 200-acre beautiful parkland, the park was originally landscaped in the eighteenth century and was painted by celebrated artist John Constable. The campus is built around five compact and bustling squares and with shops, a bustling street market, restaurants, banks, a theatre and even a hair salon, it's possible to survive without ever leaving campus.  The campus is located only two miles from England’s oldest recorded town. Colchester has excellent transport links and offers some of the finest leisure facilities in Eastern England.

The University of Essex Colchester Campus offers a selection of economy (shared facilities) and single en-suite rooms including a shower, washbasin, toilet, desk, heating, wardrobe, linen, towels and free Wi-Fi. Ground floor and accessible/adapted rooms can be requested upon booking.

Great location to stay, just walking around the campus is magnificent enough, only a short bus ride to town. Good selection of food and bars right on your doorstep.

Directions:

By car:

There is good access to Colchester from all parts of the country via the A12, M25 and A14. Colchester is just off the A12. From London and south Essex, take the Colchester (A133) exit. From Ipswich, take the Colchester (A1232) exit. Please follow roadside signage to the Colchester Campus. Sat Nav: Please use CO7 9HT and turn right into the main University entrance.

Parking:

There is free car parking provided on-site for all guests at the property. Parking permits will be sent to guests upon booking.

By Train:

There are frequent trains from London Liverpool Street to Colchester (also known as Colchester North). The journey takes just under an hour. The nearest station is Hythe (Essex) which is a 20-minute walk from campus, train services to this station are less frequent.

By Coach, Bus or Taxi:

National Express coaches run services to the campus and Colchester from London and airports.

First Bus provides most bus services around Colchester.

Hedingham also provides services to the University.

The Panther X15 service is also available.

There is a taxi rank at Colchester Station and in the town centre (High Street). The journey to the University normally takes about 10-20 minutes.

Airport Express provides airport transfers to and from the University

There a number of wheelchair accessible taxis in Colchester. It is recommended that you call to check availability and suitability before travelling.

Travelling from Airports and Ferry port:

London Stansted, Heathrow and Gatwick airports: The campus is not far from Stansted Airport, the quickest way to travel is by coach. If you are arriving at Heathrow or Gatwick, there is a bookable public coach service run by National Express.

Harwich International Port: The campus is only 30 minutes by car from the port.
