Overview

The Duke of York is ideally located in the beautiful South Somerset village of Shepton Beauchamp. This 17th Century, Grade 2 Listed Building lies within a Conservation Area and has been owned by the Gearing family since October 2024, and is one of only 6% of pubs in Britain that is a true Free House. We stock an excellent range of local ales and ciders, together with fine wine. We offer an attractive pub garden and large, free car park and we are dog friendly.

Our Restaurant is open Wednesday to Saturday (12-2pm and 6-8.30pm), with Carvery served every Sunday from 12.30 to 3pm. We also serve Cream Teas Wednesday to Saturday from 12-4pm in the Summer months.

We have four en-suite Letting Rooms, all with free wifi and televisions. Each room contains tea/coffee making facilities, together with a fridge and toaster. We provide a continental style breakfast for guests (within the room), comprising an assortment of cereals, milk, bread, butter and jams.

If you are looking for that special night or weekend we have our luxury suite which has a double whirlpool bath and a four poster bed.

If your business needs to provide overnight stays for clients or staff, then we're also perfect for that.

We have beautiful walks, accessible directly from the pub. Why not visit Barrington Court (only 20 mins walk away, completely off-road), or East Lambrook Manor Gardens. The peaceful village of Shepton Beauchamp makes a very interesting stroll, with its beautiful church and many listed buildings within the Conservation Area, and the very well stocked and varied Shepton Stores, Kitchen & Deli. Wider facilities are available in the nearby town of South Petherton (3 miles) and Ilminster (4 miles). Or simply sit outside the front of the pub with a cool drink, or a coffee or tea, and watch the world go by.

If you have any enquiries before, during or after your stay, please do not hesitate to contact us.

We look forward to meeting you.
