The newly refurbished Kings Arms Hotel in Temple Sowerby is the perfect base for exploring the Eden Valley, Lake District, and Cumbria. 
With nine comfortable en-suite bedrooms, an oak-panelled lounge with cosy sofas, tables and fireplace, a bar with tables and a log burner, and a games room with a pool table, darts and a TV, plus a beer garden, you're sure to find a perfect spot to enjoy a meal and drink throughout the day.

 The Kings Arms offers bed and breakfast in well-furnished rooms with modern en-suite bathrooms. Relax or dine in their cosy lounge, bar, or games room.

History

The Kings Arms is just off the A66 and has a four-hundred-year history as a coaching inn. It provided hospitality to travellers on the old Turnpike road and early tourists. In 1799, William Wordsworth and Samuel Coleridge chose the Kings Arms as a starting point for exploring the Lake District. Temple Sowerby was known as “The Queen of Westmorland Villages” in those days.

 

Food & beverage

 Breakfast is included in the room rates. It consists of a Full English Breakfast, toast, cereals, tea and coffee, and fruit juice.

Packed lunches for walkers and fishermen can be ordered for an additional charge.

The bar and restaurant serves food from 8 AM until 9 PM, seven days a week.

Grounds & Gardens

The Kings Arms has a beer garden with tables along the side of the building and additional tables at the front.

Acorn Bank, a National Trust property, is a short walk away with its famous gardens.

 Free Wi-Fi is available in all areas of the hotel. The games room has a large TV, pool table, and dart board.

 The Kings Arms is just off the A66, a few miles from Penrith. Whether you are coming from Scotch Corner or Penrith, take the Temple Sowerby bypass and follow signs to The Kings Arms in the centre of the village.

If travelling on the M6, exit at Junction 40 and follow signs for the A66 --> Scotch Corner. Then, leave the A66 at Temple Sowerby.
