Overview

In the heart of ancient whispers, where the Fens stretch their reedy arms, stands the Rose and Crown Hotel—a sentinel of time, its roots entwined with centuries past. For nearly six hundred years, it has graced the landscape, a silent witness to the ebb and flow of history.

A Tapestry of Centuries: For nearly six hundred years, the Rose and Crown has graced the landscape—a silent witness to the ebb and flow of history. Its roots delve deep, and the original cellars, remnants of a bygone era, cradle the weight of centuries.

The Swan, 1461: An old sign, with the representation of a horn and pheasant, whispers the earliest recorded name for the hostelry. The Swan, they called it—a beacon for weary travellers seeking refuge. The Rose and Crown Hotel Wisbech is probably the most ancient surviving hostelry in Wisbech, with a bar & restaurant called ‘The Swan’ located in front of the building.

Features of the Rose and Crown:

Charming Accommodations:
28 guest rooms, each a chapter unto itself, offer respite to weary souls. From their windows, views of rolling hills unfold—a patchwork quilt stitched by the hands of time.

Enchanting surroundings:
Just a few minute walk from the Hotel, you can find National Trust - Peckover House and Garden, Wisbech & Fenland Museum, or Angles Theater

And so, beneath the starry tapestry, we raise our glasses to the Rose and Crown. Here, time is but a gentle current, and the past mingles with the present. As the fire crackles and the moon casts its silver glow, we honour the inn’s legacy—a haven for dreamers, wanderers, and those who seek solace in the embrace of history.
