Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge

The staff I encountered, both at Porters' Lodge and in the dining hall, were excellent - friendly and helpful. The arrangements for entry to the college after 9pm were very straight-forward. The room was as I expected it to be, but was overwhelmingly hot and stuffy. Open windows did mitigate this somewhat, but resulted in a poor night's sleep with the road noise from outside. There was a long queue for breakfast due to the number of summer school students who were also staying at the college.

From arrival to departure, the whole experience was excellent. The porter was so friendly and helpful, the rooms was clean, offered good facilities - a fridge, free mineral water, a pouch contining shower gel, soap shampoo cotton buds and other useful things. Everything worked. Breakfast was very good - a great choice. The gardens and college is beautiful and peaceful to walk around.

Enterence area dirty, No light in lift, toilet papers not replaced, inshort a regular werkly visit by management would eliminate such basic issues. It is an excellent place for peace and contempkation which was my priority, so I really was pleased during my stay. Thanks.

Good stay, room very hot and lots of noise from the pub across the road but nothing the college can do about that. Lovely Porter checked us in and we’d stay again

Lovely location but very noisy. Wasn't aware that I would be kept awake until after midnight due to loud voices at pub nearby.
