Aperçu

Le Sidney Sussex College est heureux de proposer un hébergement simple et propre dans le cadre historique exceptionnel d'un collège traditionnel, au cœur de Cambridge. Un emplacement idéal pour découvrir les nombreux attraits de Cambridge : la rivière Cam, le Cambridge Corn Exchange, les musées, les centres commerciaux et plus de 50 restaurants. Le tout accessible à pied depuis le Sidney.

Les chambres se trouvent dans l'enceinte du collège, dans les résidences Blundell Court, Garden Court, Cloister Court ou Sussex House. D'autres chambres sont situées à seulement 5 minutes à pied, dans les résidences Sidney House et Cromwell Court.

La plupart des chambres sont équipées d'un lavabo et des serviettes et du savon sont fournis. Les chambres standard sont partagées entre 4 ou 5 personnes, sauf si vous disposez d'une salle de bains privative. Toutes les chambres sont dotées d'un plateau de courtoisie (thé et café), d'un accès internet et sont nettoyées quotidiennement par le personnel d'entretien.

Figurant parmi les plus petits collèges, Sidney Sussex possède un fort esprit communautaire et est réputé pour son accueil chaleureux et convivial envers les visiteurs.

L’établissement n’accepte pas les réservations d’hébergement pour les enterrements de vie de jeune fille ou de garçon.

Histoire

Founded in 1596 Sidney Sussex is a very well-kept secret - whether it is Elizabethan brickwork, charming Cloister Court, the haunting Chapel, exquisite Rococo Hall, medieval cellars or beautiful ancient gardens - they all lie behind a rather self-effacing wall of Roman cement. Sidney's history is an even better-kept secret including the precise point at which Oliver Cromwell's head is buried.

Espaces verts et alentours

Sidney Sussex has two outstanding courtyards surrounded by Grade I listed buildings dating from 1596. The small and friendly atmosphere of the College can be sampled in the Fellows' Garden and Cloister Court where guests can sit and enjoy the peace and quiet in magnificent surroundings.

The College is unable to offer parking on-site, however, the Grand Arcade and Grafton Centre Car Park are available a short distance from the College. Further details please contact the College.

A very pleasant experience. The accommodation is situated in central Cambridge with a supermarket directly opposite - useful for sourcing items to put in the fridge which is provided. The Porters were warm, welcoming and helpful. The college buildings are historical gems and surrounded by lovely flower beds and lawns. The single en-suite room was plain but quite adequate for an overnight stay. Breakfast was an unlimited choice of cooked items and cereals etc and taken in a stunning dining room.

The room was great, spotlessly clean and the college itself was very close to all amenities with plenty of cafes and restaurants within a five minute walk. The staff were friendly and the breakfast included in the price was of a good standard. I would’ve given 5* overall if decaf coffee had been available in the room. The grounds of the college were a lovely haven with picnic benches set out on the lawns. A great place to stay and I’ll definitely stay there again on my next visit to Cambridge.

The College rooms were in the very very center of town, well worth the price per night. The breakfast was generous and filling. The porters made us feel very welcome. Essentially for the same price as a shabby hotel, you get a really unique memory and experience. I strongly recommend walking the grounds’ pathways in the afternoon. Note that there are shared bathrooms, kitchen, and showers. These were totally clean and adequate but some guests may balk at this aspect.

The Student Accommodation at Sidney Sussex was just as we expected - no frills but very acceptable in order to to stay in such a lovely, historic campus in the centre of the university area. The breakfast was excellent, the porters and the staff were all very pleasant and helpful. Can recommend.

Rooms are available to check in from 2:00pm on the day of arrival. On the day of departure, guests are required to vacate bedrooms and return keys to the Porters' Lodge by 10:00am to enable the rooms to be serviced for incoming guests.

Guests should check-in at the Porters' Lodge at the front of the College (opposite Sainsbury's on Sidney Street).

The Porters' Lodge is open for check-in and check-out between 06.00am and 9.00pm. If you are due to arrive outside of these times, please contact the Porters' Lodge to confirm your arrival. 

The main gate by the Porters' Lodge is closed at 9.00pm. 

Please note that, despite their title, College Porters do not carry guests' bags.

The railway station is approximately 25 minutes walk from the College. Bus and taxi services are available outside the Station entrance.
