Great value for money and decent breakfast thrown in, downsides were location - its 2-3 miles from the city centre and rooms a little small (but to be expected at price).

(I've already left feedback at Reception) 1. The mold in the shower area needs zapping. 2. An explanation of where to present the key fob (perspex window) to open the door of the block, would have been helpful! 3. Decaf coffee sachets in the room would be great. 4. The shower curtain needs more hooks and rings Otherwise, a good place to stay. Thanks.

Fantastic, except for problems checking in - took approximately half an hour to check in due to some mistake involving confusion about the rooms. It would be good if these things were double checked beforehand (we had booked 3 separate rooms but only 2 rooms had been allocated to our booking initially). Great experience overall, thank you!

Took ages to issue me with my room card. This may be connected to the fact that when I first tried to book I was told all rooms were full for one of the nights I wished to stay. I contacted the accommodation office to ask to go on a waiting list and found that there were rooms available that night! I had to book that night directly with the office rather than online.

Difficulty finding the reception area and correct parking after arriving at the 'village'. Better signage would be helpful. This was also voiced by others who stayed there.

The breakfast was average to good (form above said N/A???) would be better if they had more tables and chairs in the breakfast area rather than sofas which aren't good for trying to eat a full English from!

Mattresses were hard as a rock as might be expected of university accommodation, so a poor night's sleep was ensured for myself and my 16 year old who has joint pains. I would not want to stay more than one night, therefore!

booked on internet and received confirmation by e-mail. however when i arrived was told there was no record of my booking. apart from that i was very pleased and would like to have the chance to visit again.

The shower is a bit weak, other than that, all staff are so friendly and the breakfast is amazing. If you are heading to the round-about near city centre, it is 30min of walking, not bad if you are not carrying loads with you. Rush hours in the morning may delay your journey in the morning durhing weekdays, allow some more time for traffic if you take a cab.

La storia di Sheffield

Sheffield history

Sheffield: the city

Sheffield, which is in South Yorkshire, is the fourth largest city in England and is so named because of its origins in a field on the River Sheaf that runs through the city.

The area that is now the City of Sheffield has been occupied since at least the last ice age, but the settlements that grew to form Sheffield date from the second half of the 1st millennium, and are of Anglo-Saxon and Danish origin. After the Norman conquest, Sheffield Castle was built to protect the local settlements, and a small town developed that is the nucleus of the modern city. By 1296 a market had been established at what is now known as Castle Square, and Sheffield subsequently grew into a small market town. In the 14th century Sheffield was already noted for the production of knives, as mentioned in Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, and by 1600 it had become the main centre of cutlery production in England, overseen by The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire. From 1570 to 1584 Mary, Queen of Scots was held as a prisoner in Sheffield Castle and Sheffield Manor.
