I wasn't able to enjoy breakfast on Sunday morning as it wasn't available before 8am. This is too late in my opinion. Even on a Sunday breakfast should be available from 7am

didnt have breakfast so ignore feedback on that. Staff very helpful, although initial mix up over our rooms ended up with us being separated but that didnt matter. Will definately use the facility again, lovely location and clean and quiet and ideal.

The room was clean, well equipped and well priced. I was very pleased with my stay. Check in and out were quick, easy and efficient. The only negative comment I would make is that the central heating was quite noisy and the pipes in the room made quite a lot of noise throughout the night.

The staffs at reception are extremely friendly and helpful, it made me feel really welcomed and comfortable. The room is nice and really is like a little home. overall really excellent experience!!!!

Room was clean and quiet, price was cheap, breakfast was buffet style with croissants, full English, cereals etc. The general ambience was lovely - what a nice place! Within walking distance of the uni, plenty of parking at the weekend, everything was good.

Staff pleasant and helpful. Accommodation clean and adequate. I expected some noise because it's student accommodation but on one night from 7pm to 6am on the green outside was a bit much. Overall room, surroundings, staff excellent.

(Revisione di Endcliffe Residences, Sheffield)

The full English breakfast was excellent and the room was comfortable although there wasn't a tv. This didn't matter as we were only there for one night.

Did not have breakfast A TV in room would have been good, but understnd the TV licensing rules might not allow. Stay was perfectly fine and comfortable for my needs, apart from being trapped in the lift and having to call for help!

Excellent service and extremely helpful staff on hand at the Edge. Room clean and comfortable, instant access to internet. Wide choice of breakfast. Pleasant setting and great access to bus service to city centre. Would definitely use again, really added to my visit to the city.

La storia di Sheffield

Sheffield history

Sheffield: the city

Sheffield, which is in South Yorkshire, is the fourth largest city in England and is so named because of its origins in a field on the River Sheaf that runs through the city.

The area that is now the City of Sheffield has been occupied since at least the last ice age, but the settlements that grew to form Sheffield date from the second half of the 1st millennium, and are of Anglo-Saxon and Danish origin. After the Norman conquest, Sheffield Castle was built to protect the local settlements, and a small town developed that is the nucleus of the modern city. By 1296 a market had been established at what is now known as Castle Square, and Sheffield subsequently grew into a small market town. In the 14th century Sheffield was already noted for the production of knives, as mentioned in Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales, and by 1600 it had become the main centre of cutlery production in England, overseen by The Company of Cutlers in Hallamshire. From 1570 to 1584 Mary, Queen of Scots was held as a prisoner in Sheffield Castle and Sheffield Manor.
