Overview

Camplus San Giovanni in Monte is located right in the historic centre of Bologna, right next to the Towers of Bologna and the Piazza Maggiore. Throughout the year it welcomes university professors, students and researchers coming from all over the world, as well as tourists and people staying for business. The architectural remodelling and redesigning of the available space have restored its plain but comfortable atmosphere, ideal for a stay in the heart of the city and offering great value for money.

Almost all the city's historic and artistic attractions, as well as the main shopping streets, are easily accessible on foot. All the rooms in the residence are in a quiet and isolated part of the building, away from the noise of the traffic. These calm surroundings are ideal for studying or working.

The residence offers single, twin, triple or quadruple rooms with ensuite bathroom, air conditioning, TV, phone and free Internet access.


History

The entire building was recently refurbished to celebrate University of Bologna's 900th birthday, making it the oldest university in the world.

Food & beverage

The residence offers numerous vending machines, selling snacks, sweets and both hot and cold drinks.

There are many possibilities for those who are after a lunch or a typical Bolognese dish. There are plenty of bars and cafés, ideal for quick and inexpensive meals, as well as typical restaurants, pizzerias and taverns, all of which are only a stone's throw away from the residence.

As well as the accommodation, guests also have the option of booking a lunch at partner bar, which is situated around a 20-minute walk from the front door.

For those who are staying for longer than a week, it is possible to request a mini fridge to keep easily perishable food (please note that these mini fridges do not have a freezer compartment).

Grounds & Gardens

The Camplus has a courtyard. The historic park "Giardini Margherita" is a 10-minute walk away and is the best known and most visited park in the city. It has playground areas for children, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts and a small artificial lake.

Other facilities

Free Internet access, Meeting room, TV room. It is possible to ask at reception for other day-to-day utilities, such as kettle, iron and ironing board and hairdryer. For babies and small children it is possible to book a travel cot.

Car garage with 4 spaces available to guests. It is advisable to book in advance for an additional charge of €10 per night (accessing the garage would mean that you have to drive in the historic city centre and therefore guests coming by car need to have appropriate permit, which is available at the central train station)

Rooms are cleaned on a daily basis and linen is replaced once a week for longer stays.

Check-in: From 3.00pm   Check-out: Before 10:30. Reception is open from 08.30am to 12:30am and from 03:00pm to 07.00pm.

By Car: Exit at junction 7 "Bologna Centro - Fiera - Via Stalingrado". Proceeding until the central train station and continuing through the streets surrounding the city centre until Porta Santo Stefano. Then turn right onto Via Santo Stefano and almost at the end of that street, turn left onto Via Cartoleria.

From the Central Train Station: You can get the following buses: Line C from the station (weekdays). Getting off at "Cartoleria"- Bus n. 11 from the nearby bus station getting off at "Garganelli"

From the "G. Marconi" Airport: Take the BLQ shuttle service to the central train station and from there follow the above instructions.
