History

Braid Hills Hotel was built in 1886 to accommodate golfers visiting the famous Braid Hills Courses nearby and the hotel has retained much of the period charm to complement the property's modern, Scottish refurbishment.

The area surrounding the hotel has many of Edinburgh's most famous and historic golf courses, several scenic walks and a plentiful supply of the world-famous Victorian architecture which is typical of the Morningside area.

Food & beverage

Dining in the 1886 Hotel Restaurant you can choose from a seasonal menu with a Scottish flavour. The magnificent views from this elegantly-appointed restaurant can only enhance the enjoyment of your meal. The wine list is carefully selected to offer both excellent vintages and more modest bottles, at sensible prices. Vegetarian and dietary requirements are fully catered for.

Situated in the Hotel grounds, The Buckstone Kitchen & Bar is a well-known local meeting place. It has its own Conservatory and Terrace and is renowned for the quality of its fine food and real ales.

The hotel has several spacious outdoor terraces which guests can dine or enjoy beverages whilst appreciating the stunning Edinburgh city views and Firth of Forth beyond. Due to the historic nature of the property and the surrounding area, there are several parks and local walks nearby including the -The Hermitage of Braid & Blackford Hill Local Nature Reserve. The Hermitage of Braid and Blackford Hill Local Nature Reserve is an area of natural beauty in Edinburgh, Scotland, managed by the City of Edinburgh Natural Heritage Service. The start of this walk is a short stroll from the hotel.
