The Moors National Park has been established for over 50 years and is an area of outstanding, unspoilt beauty. From Gillamoor there is easy access to the stunning coastline and seaside towns such as Bridlington, Scarborough and Whitby, all with their own character and history, including Captain Cook, smugglers and old whaling traditions.
Our farm is situated on the Main Street of Gillamoor and is well signposted. As we mentioned earlier this is a working farm with the house dating back to the 17th Century. We welcome families and their dogs on arragement and even provide a grazing/stabling service for horses; there are some excellent trails to explore either riding, cycling or walking around the village with spectacular views.
Closer to Gillamoor there is beautiful Farndale, awash with daffodils in the Spring; it is a sight that even matches Woodsworth's poem! Using Gillamoor as your base you can explore the windswept countryside along well maintained but sometimes narrow country lanes. There are many pubs in which to enjoy home made cooking and traditional beers; all accompanied by friendly service and value for money. York is less than an hour away with its ancient buildings including York Minster dating back to the 12th century. The city boasts of its Roman and Viking history and there are many reminders and attractions of their occupation of the city.
