Wharncliffe Fly Fishery is just north of Sheffield and promises a wonderful day’s fly fishing for anyone. It has a great atmosphere and fantastic fly life.

Whether you’ve been fly fishing for years and have all the gear, skill and knowledge, or you’ve never done it before, head to Wharncliffe Fly Fishery. Here you will find nice and easy casting spots and there are some challenging areas too for the more experienced.

You can hire a boat if you want to. The reservoir is 7.5 acres, so while it is large, targeting fish from the bank is also possible.

After entry please re-lock the gate ensuring LOCK TO LOCK 

S35 7DA is the posctode for the reservoir.

Use the LOWER CAR PARK 

 

Approach from Penistone/Huddersfield on A629

Pass through Wortley and over the A616.

Turn RIGHT towards A616 Manchester

Immediately turn LEFT onto Woodhead Road

After 400 yards the entry is via metal gate on right with a large YELLOW TRIANGLE

 

Approach from Sheffield on A629

Approaching A616 entry into 40 mph zone - Beware of Police video van

Turn LEFT towards A616 Manchester

Immediately turn LEFT onto Woodhead Road

After 400 yards the entry is via metal gate on right with a large YELLOW TRIANGLE

 

Approach from Manchester on A616

Approaching A629 for Huddersfield take exit to A629

At junction with A629 turn RIGHT towards Sheffield.

Pass over A616 

Turn RIGHT towards A616 Manchester

Immediately turn LEFT onto Woodhead Road

After 400 yards the entry is via metal gate on right with a large YELLOW TRIANGLE

 

Approach from Rotherham on A616

At top of long hill from Tankersley roundabout

Turn LEFT - beware sharp bend to A629 Huddersfield

Turn immediately RIGHT onto Woodhead Road

After 400 yards the entry is via metal gate on right with a large YELLOW TRIANGLE
