Fly Fishing for Salmon in the Årgård River

A secluded spot for fly anglers who prefer space, light tackle, and fresh, active salmon. Their cabin site is located 200–300 metres from the river, depending on the path taken. At the top of the beat, there is a lean-to shelter with a campfire area and an outdoor toilet.

A full week of fly fishing and comfortable accommodation. Included in this package is exclusive fishing and accommodation in 4 cabins, for up to 16 people. 1,6 km river, both sides of the river. A boat is available for crossing the river. The landowner wil show you around when you arrive, and give you some local fishing tips. Check-in from 12, and check-out before 10.

Fishing description:
The Årgård beat stretches from just below the tidal limit, through short rapids and calm pools, up to Strømmen Beach. The beat is approximately 1.7 kilometres, with 1.2 kilometres being the most frequently fished section. The owners have rights to both sides of the river up to the pool at Strømmen, where the river is shared with a neighbouring beat for 100 metres.

Anglers can use a boat to cross the river, as some locations can be fished from either side depending on water level and preference. The river can be waded at several points by experienced anglers when water levels are low. Pools are marked with signs.

Salmon typically range from 1 kg to 13.7 kg, with most catches between 1.5 and 3.5 kg. Early-season fish tend to be slightly larger. Sea trout account for about 5–10% of total catches.

Fishing and accommodation package for 2026:
The entire beat can be rented exclusively. The package includes all four cabins, with bed linen, towels, and final cleaning. Each cabin has two bedrooms with two single beds per room, totaling 16 beds. One cabin is larger and can serve as a gathering space.

Guests receive an introduction and basic guiding upon arrival. A local guide can be booked for additional days if desired. Fishing days start at 12:00 noon. Packages run from Saturday to Saturday.
