All anglers purchasing a fishing permit will, if desired, receive the current beat map and be allocated specific fishing spot(s). Before fishing begins, all equipment used in the river must be disinfected. The fishing permit is valid from 06:00 to 24:00, allowing a total of 18 hours of fishing. There is a night-time rest period with no fishing allowed between 00:00 and 06:00.

In June and July, fishing takes place on Øvre Mediå and in Sanddøla on odd-numbered days, and on Nedre Mediå on even-numbered days. In August, this alternates — Øvre Mediå and Sanddøla are fished on even-numbered days, and Nedre Mediå on odd-numbered days.

Øvre Mediå starts at Miganbekken and ends just above Namsentunet at Rokkøra. Nedre Mediå stretches from Rokkøra all the way down to Sanddøla, while Sanddøla runs from its confluence with the Namsen up to Doktorsteinen. See photos of the beats for reference.

From 1–15 June, fishing with lures, wobblers, and flies is permitted. For the remainder of the season, only fly fishing is allowed. Our beats are ideal for fly anglers, offering holding pools, rapids, riffles, and a variety of exciting current seams. With a Namsen water level above 50 cubic metres per second, we enjoy relatively stable fishing conditions throughout the summer.
