Panoramica

St Stephen's House is situated close to Magdalen Bridge in a quiet street running between the famous Cowley Road and Iffley Road. It is a Theological College and a Permanent Private Hall of the University of Oxford.

A former monastery, with the warm, relaxed and peaceful atmosphere of a country house with modern facilities. Relax in the comfortable sitting room which is the student common room in term time or enjoy the peace of the cloister gardens.

There are only 50 bedrooms in the whole college so you will never feel overwhelmed or impersonal. Four bedrooms are located on the ground floor, ideal if you do not feel up to climbing stairs.

Parking is available on site at a rate of £2.50 per day if you are staying with us. Please request a car parking space through additional information, and you will be invoiced on arrival at St Stephen's House.

There are lots of restaurants and interesting shops in the Cowley Road so you do not have to stray far to be entertained.

We had a lovely stay at St. Stephen's House. We spent the weekend in Oxford for a friend's DPhil graduation, and St. Stephen's was the perfect place to stay – great location, quiet, clean, and the people were friendly. Good breakfast, too. Would definitely stay there again and recommend to others visiting Oxford.

The staff were lovely & the breakfast was nice. The room was a little run down for the price. Would have been wonderful to have a garden or lounge area to relax in. A mini bar fridge would have come in handy too. Really need a recycling bin for guests to use too. Overall a nice stay. 😊

Quiet and convenient location. Breakfast ( full English), was good but we missed it the first day as we had to leave before it was served. It's a shame there is no takeaway option, like a croissant and piece of fruit say.

This was a superb experience- clean, quiet rooms in the eaves with large comfortable bed , spacious kitchen area and table and chairs in a separate room. Easy to find and a 20 minute walk to the centre of Oxford.

Check In: From 1pm Check Out: By 10.30am

If arriving between the hours of 1pm and 5pm, Monday to Friday you simply need to ring at the front door. For out of office hours arrivals the entry code for the college will be emailed to you along with instructions on how to find your key and the location of your room. You will also receive an emergency telephone number.

Please note, if you anticipate arriving after office hours, do bring the email with you that gives you entry code and emergency telephone numbers.

The college straddles Cowley Road and Iffley Road, 4 streets up from The Plain (roundabout by Magdalen Bridge). It is less than 5 minutes walk from the airport and London bus stop at St Clement's and a short bus ride to Cowley Road from the rail station.

Our car park is located in James Street which runs parallel to Marston Street. The entrance is towards the Iffley Road end of the street. There is an entry code which will be sent to you if you prebook a car parking space. From the car park the entrance to the college is through the cloisters (entry code will be sent to you) the door is located on the right hand side of the car park adjacent to the church.
