Situated atop the hill on the beautiful Vancouver Island University campus, the VIU residence buildings offer all your summer accomodation needs. Whether you have family visiting the mid-island region or are organizing a conference from 10 to 200, there is a room for you.
Private and single rooms in shared apartments or dormitories, with semi-private bathrooms are on offer. Common kitchens and lounges are available for guests to use.
Each room includes an extra long single bed, wardrobe and desk.
The Nanaimo Art Gallery is 5 minutes’ walk from these residences and the Nanaimo Aquatic Centre is 15 minutes’ walk away. The Departure Bay Ferry Terminal is 5 minutes’ drive away.

There is a cafeteria on campus that is open from 11:00am to 2:00pm Monday to Friday.
There are many restaurants downtown which is about a 30 to 45 minute walk.
Naniamo is located in the heart of Vancouver island. The gorgeous grounds include both mountain and ocean views. There are large courtyard areas which include basketball and valleyball courts. Enjoy the views while having a picnic at one of the many BBQ areas.

Drive 16km on Nanaimo parkway and take exit to 5th St
Turn left at first set of lights onto Wakesiah Ave
Turn left at the next set of lights onto 4th St
Turn right at the Western Student Housing Sign and proceed to the Cedar center to check in.
Nearest Ferry Terminal: Departure Bary 6.5km
Head south on Stewart Ave/BC-1
Turn left onto Island Hwy/Terminal Ave N/BC-1 S (signs for Trans Canada Highway/Nanaimo City Centre/British Columbia 1 S/Victoria)
Take the 1st right onto Comox Rd
Continue onto Bowen Rd
Turn left onto Wakesiah Ave
