Gäste erwarten komfortable Zimmer und ein reichhaltiges Frühstücksbuffet. Das Straven ist ein kleines B&B, das von Chris und Sinead in ihrem traditionellen viktorianischen Haus geführt wird. Da es kein Personal gibt, ist ein persönlicher Service garantiert. Nur 50 Meter von einem wunderschönen Sandstrand entfernt, im grünen Vorort Joppa in Portobello, finden Sie eine große Auswahl an Cafés, Restaurants, Bars und Geschäften. Die Ruhe ist so groß, dass man kaum glauben mag, dass man nur 20 Minuten mit dem Bus im Zentrum der schottischen Hauptstadt ist. Erkunden Sie tagsüber das reiche Erbe Edinburghs und entspannen Sie abends bei einem ruhigen Spaziergang an der Strandpromenade.

At Straven guests have a wide selection of breakfast items and have achieved Visit Scotland’s Taste the property's Best accreditation as recognition of the sourcing policy and the quality food and drink provided.

To start there is a buffet selection, including dried and fresh fruits, cereals, homemade yoghurts, juices, etc. Toast is served with homemade preserves and the option of traditional Scots porridge made with organic oats served with a swirl of cream.

The main breakfast menu includes:

  • A full cooked Scottish breakfast with a fried egg, bacon, sausage, black pudding, tattie scone, tomato and mushroom
  • Boiled eggs
  • Scrambled eggs on toast with bacon, tomato and mushrooms
  • Croissant and almond twist roll with cheeses
  • Belgian waffle and fresh fruit and honey
  • Crusty bread with cold meat, cheese and a boiled egg

Location:

  • There is an excellent and frequent public transport facility to easily transport guests from city centre to the corner of the street and a shuttle coach service and tram service operates from Airport to City Centre.
  • By bus, train or plane: From the city centre take Lothian Bus No. 26 from outside Jenners Department store on Princes Street. This is a  very short walk from the train station and disembarkation point for the airport coach. The no 26 Lothian bus leaves from the stop on South St David Street outside Jenners store. The bus will deposit Guests at  Joppa, outside Portobello and Joppa Parish church just at the corner of the street The bus stop is announced as Brunstane Rd North. The service has a five-minute frequency during the day and remains regular into the evening.
  • A taxi from the city centre to the door is about thirteen pounds.
  • By car: Sat Nav postcode: EH15 2DL. Approaching Edinburgh on the A1 go straight through the first roundabout coming into Edinburgh (with Asda store on left - signed “Portobello”). At the next traffic lights turn right (Signed “Joppa”).  Turn first left into Brunstane Road, down to the bottom, cross the Abercorn Terrace junction and Straven is on the left. Approaching Edinburgh by a route other than the A1 proceed East on the South city bypass(A720) all the way to the Old Craighall junction where guests take the turnoff left for Edinburgh East and North and thereafter follow instructions as for the A1.
