历史

St Mary’s  is part of Salisbury’s layered story. Part of the origional buildings date back to the 1830s, originally serving as a focal point for the city’s Catholic community at a time of renewed religious freedom in Britain.

During this period, the site even hosted a chapel associated with Augustus Pugin, one of the most influential architects of the Gothic Revival.

As Salisbury evolved, so too did St Mary’s. After its religious use, it became St Mary’s Home, a Victorian-era institution supporting vulnerable young women, reflecting the social realities and reform movements of the time.

Over subsequent decades, the buildings transitioned again eventually becoming part of  Wiltshire College & University Centre. Today, guests experience a rare combination: contemporary accommodation within a historic setting shaped by civic, social and architectural change.
