The Ruel is a classic West Coast spate river. From the place where it is joined by the Garvie Burn below the ruins of Dunans Castle, it is fishable for about 12 miles as it flows through Glendaruel and into Loch Riddon. Fishing activity over the last few years has however been very low, but now for the first time, day tickets are available through Fishpal over a large part of the river, and particularly in spate conditions, the prospects are very exciting.
