It has managed to preserve many historic features of the town, such as the round house, horsepond and many other local buildings, dating back to the 16th century.
The hotel is owned by Daniel Patrick and managed by Miranda Buchanan-stone (aka Pip) along with family and staff. Our aim is to provide our guests with a warm welcome and an enjoyable stay, whether it is for business or pleasure.
The hotel has two main bar areas, offering an extensive range of excellent food and drinks. We also have a restaurant a full a la carte menu 7 days a week. The main bar has retained its character, and has an original inglenook fireplace with an elm beam, said to date back to the 10th century.
The bistro bar is an open dining area with an extensive menu. The George Hotel, which was originally a coaching inn, now has 15 individually decorated en-suite bedrooms. We are able to offer colour television, tea and coffee making facilities, radio, telephone, iron and board and hairdryer.
We have 3 courtyard bedrooms, one of which is our executive suite. They all have external access allowing us to accept pets. Please let us know in advance if you require one of these bedrooms. Pets are also permitted in the main bar area.
