The College was founded in 1896 by Henry Fitzalan Howard, the 15th Duke of Norfolk and Baron Anatole von Hügel. Initially created as a lodging house for students who were matriculated at the different Colleges in the University, St Edmund’s was awarded full collegiate status by the University of Cambridge in 1996.
Continental breakfasts are available to guests and are served in the main Dining Hall between 08.00 and 09.30. A continental breakfast tray will be offered on Saturdays and Sundays when the Dining Hall servery is not open.
Although the college is unable to cater for lunch and dinner, there is a wide range of excellent pubs, cafés and restaurants all within a 10-15 minute walk of the College.

Guests are welcome to explore the tranquil and relaxed gardens and make use of the orchard seating area.

Travel:
The College is a 10-15 minute walk from the centre of town.
Please note there is no parking onsite and would advise to use the Park & Ride facilities.
The railway station is a 20-minute taxi journey from St Edmund's College. This could be longer at peak times.
By Road: M11 Junction 13, turn right at sliproad traffic lights, then go straight over next traffic lights, continue straight for a mile. When you can see that the road terminates at a mini-roundabout about 150 metres ahead, you will come to a pedestrian crossing with traffic lights, look for a left turn marked 'Huntingdon, A14, Arbury, Shire Hall'. Take this, then first left past Lucy Cavendish College. Follow the road until you reach a T-junction and turn right. Then on your left is St Edmund’s College.
