历史

The Ancient Gatehouse Hotel incorporates the Great West Gate which dates back to at least 1473, part of the original city wall which would once have completely encircled the city, cathedral and palace. Its use as a hotel can be traced back to the 17th century when it was known as The Mitre Hotel.

Breakfast is served between 7.30am and 9.30am weekdays and 8.00am and 9.30am weekends.

The Rugantino Restaurant has a unique atmosphere created by a historic setting and welcoming ambience, with its friendly staff and warm surroundings it provides the ideal setting for that special meal. The restaurant also prepares traditional English table d'hôte menus which can be enhanced by a choice of wines, spirits and beers available from the bar. Open Monday - Sunday, lunch 12.00pm-2.30pm, dinner 6.00pm-10.00pm. A dinner upgrade is available with all rooms.

Brufani's Steak & Gourmet Burger Restaurant in their sister hotel situated across the street is the only chargrilled steakhouse in the area and is ideal for an alternative menu during your stay. Open from 5.30pm until 9.30pm Brufaani's has a separate children's menu.
