The University of Essex Southend Campus accommodation is located in a prime central location, just off the town's High Street and only within walking distance from Southend seafront. You will be perfectly placed to enjoy the many attractions and facilities the town has to offer. The mix of fashionable shops, modern bars, and alternative music venues cater for all tastes and the seafront provides opportunities for a range of water sports and leisure activities.

The University of Essex Southend Campus offers a selection of single en-suite rooms including a shower, washbasin, toilet, toiletries, desk, heating, wardrobe, linen, towels and free Wi-Fi. Ground floor rooms can be requested upon booking.

The residence offers room and B&B options (full board options are also available, please enquire separately regarding this specific package). Guests that book a room only package and wish to use the shared kitchen space and utensils should specify this in the additional information section of the booking form at the time of booking.

The B&B option is offered with a continental breakfast box and will be available for collection at the accommodation reception upon arrival. The breakfast box consists of orange juice, water, muffin, croissant/jam and a cereal bar.

There is an abundance of nearby restaurants, bars and cafes, due to the central location of the accommodation.

Upon arrival, guests need check-in at the reception desk at the University Square Accommodation building.

Directions:

By car: 

Southend is just half an hour from the M25 via the A13 or A127. For sat navs, postcode SS1 1LW provides the correct route directions.

Parking:

The residence, unfortunately, does not provide car parking, however, there is plenty of parking in the town centre in public car parks. At the moment, the closest car park underneath University Square student accommodation is closed for maintenance works. It is recommended to park in Warrior Square Car Park (SS1 2NQ) instead, which is a 3-minute walk from The Forum. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

By Train:

There are frequent trains from London to Southend which is served by two different rail lines, with journey times of 45 minutes to one hour:

Southend Victoria (0.3 miles from The University of Essex campus) to London Liverpool Street - operated by Abellio Greater Anglia

Southend Central (0.2 miles from The University of Essex campus) to London Fenchurch Street - operated by c2c

By Coach, Bus or Taxi:

National Express operates services to Southend Bus Station from all over the UK.

As the campus is located in the town centre, most local buses stop nearby.

There are also a number of local taxi services based in Southend.

Travelling from Airports:

Southend Airport

The University's Southend Campus is just 1.7 miles (2.8km) from London Southend Airport. You can travel from the airport by bus or train.

Stansted Airport

The campus is not far from London Stansted Airport, the quickest way to travel is by coach. Journey time is about 1 hour 30 minutes.

Heathrow and Gatwick Airports

New international students arriving at the start of the academic year via London Heathrow Airport can use The University of Essex airport transfer coach service to travel to the University of Essex, Southend Campus. You’ll need to book your seat in advance.
