The River Helmsdale offers some of the best salmon fishing in the world and people travel from far and wide to fish this great river. The River Helmsdale offers 22 miles of high quality Salmon fishing. The landscape varies from the wild tundra like upper reaches to the winding valleys of the lower section.
The Suisgill Estate offers fishing for two rods on the Helmsdale. There are six beats which work on a daily rotational basis, which facilitates the opportunity to fish the whole river over the course of a week. The Estate provides the services of a ghillie and self-catering accommodation (if taken) in either Upper Suisgill Lodge (sleeps 12) or Balvallioch Cottage (sleeps 4). Recommendations for cooks are available upon request.
Both properties have stunning views across this magnificent unspoilt wilderness, the outer reaches of which is part of the Flow Country, which has just become a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Stalking is offered when in season and, when the conditions are right, there may be an opportunity for a day of walked-up grouse shooting.
The Estate has a licence to sell venison and it is recommended to order cuts in advance.
